Luxury reservations in Costa Rica

Located on the gulf of Papagayo at the northernmost tip of the Nicoya Peninsula we have the Four Seasons luxury Reservation. With 153 rooms and villas, it is the smallest Four Seasons resort in the world, but in comparison with Punta Islita this is a gigantic resort. Here the only luxury-discipline is the one shaped according to an American model. Nothing is too crazy, everything is possible and all of that at the five-star-plus-level. Prices that normally Ticos can only dream about: 695 dollars per night for staying in a standard room during high season to 6,800 dollars per night in the presidential suite (392 square meters) with three bedrooms, dining room, a private swimming pool in your own garden and ocean view from two sides and plasma TV screens everywhere.

Guests of the Four Seasons come to Costa Rica not only for the luxury, but also to enjoy the country’s natural ambiance. You can take an excursion to the Santa Rosa National Park which is home to monkeys, tapirs, jaguars, dozens of varieties of parrots and twenty kinds of bats. There you also have the property that was confiscated in 1979 from the former Nicaraguan dictator Somoza. The Reagan administration built a secret landing strip on the northern edge of the park for the CIA (the so-called Santa Elena-strip), which was used by general Oliver North and his buddies for clandestine activities (the Iran-Contra scandal). Not a top American attraction, although very risqué.
Among the guests of the Four Seasons there’s Meg Ryan and basketball topper Michael Jordan. Pop star Pink married motor cross world champion Carey Hart there and Lisa Marie Presley also came to the party. The safe surroundings, the splendid climate and the rich flora and fauna have a magnetic attraction for the American jet set. In just a few years the Nicoya Peninsula has become to the Americans what Marbella is to the Dutch.

BRUCE WILLIS, LISA MARIE PRESLEY, HARRISON FORD, ROD STEWARD, LEONARDO DI CAPRIO, ROBERT REDFORD AND KEVIN COSTNER HAVE ALL RECENTLY BOUGHT A PIECE OF LAND OR A VILLA IN NICOYA.

Hollywood stars and musicians have discovered the magnificent area with green hills, large cattle ranches, huge trees and beautiful bays and beaches.
Bruce Willis, Lisa Marie Presley, David Hasselhoff, Harrison Ford, the Olsen Twins, Kevin Costner and Enrique Iglesias have all recently bought real estate in Costa Rica. They acquired a piece of land or a villa in the most beautiful areas of Nicoya and if rumours are true then also megastars Michael Douglas and Michal Jordan have chose the well loved region of Playa Tambor in search of a mansion. This seems to turn the Peninsula into a jet set enclave par excellence.

Real Estate in Costa Rica

Real Estate in Costa Rica will be a lot more interesting this coming high season. There are many new real estate projects in Costa Rica now coming on line and in pre sales to include ocean front, ocean view condominiums and residential developments to go along with the construction of many new private homes and commercial centers.
In Playa Tambor alone we have 10 new beach front and ocean view condominium projects underway and now in pre sales. The developers behind the scenes are highly experienced and are bringing their talents with them from Europe and the States.
The prices that are being presented are still very low compared to other beach areas with expectations that these condominiums will be worth at least 50% more within the next 2 years. Comparing the prices to real estate projects in Tamarindo, Jaco and other hot areas in Costa Rica will show that investing in Tambor is a very good decision. Not only for the low prices, but also because of the beautiful environment and natural ambiance Playa Tambor has to offer. Feeding the rising interest on properties in Playa Tambor are future developments in the planning stages to include another golf course, a marina with a boulevard full of bar/restaurants, shops and tourist information centers along with a host of residential developments. Many new real estate offices are promoting the area at this moment offering people a piece of real estate in Playa Tambor, but the office with the most experience and the leader in Playa Tambor is Century 21 Tambor Hills. This office with over 10 years of experience in Playa Tambor has highly trained brokers and the resources to make your search for real estate in Costa Rica a pleasant experience. The Costa Rica real estate agents at Century 21 Tambor Hills realize that they are there to make your dreams come true, and not the other way around.
Everybody knows that more movement in real estate and development in an area will mean higher appreciating values. This along with stunning beauty is something that Playa Tambor is offering at lower ground floor prices.
With all of the future real estate developments that are coming to Playa Tambor, this is an area that easily can be compared with Jaco or Tamarindo, but where the action will be more concentrated. It will have a cleaner and more organized development than the other beach areas. Playa Tambor is also an area that will retain all of her small town charm due to the Geographic’s and probably has one of the best microclimates along the whole Pacific coast.
The people that are investing in Tambor are older and along with the local Costa Ricans that live here like things quiet. This is part of the charm that Playa Tambor has to offer. The peaceful and calm atmosphere of Playa Tambor, Costa Rica is a dream come true and has been attracting interesting people from around the world that want to live in harmony with nature. Playa Tambor is far enough from the Capital to keep things quiet with weekend traffic being at a minimum; consequently there are little drugs and crime to contend with. If you are looking for a place with a safe, wholesome environment and high return on your investment whether it be for a vacation home or permanent residence, stop in to see Century 21 Tambor Hills Playa Tambor, Costa Rica located in the Los Delfines Golf and Country Club or call their toll free number in the U.S. and Canada 1-800-774-3970 and they will be happy to advise you on the current and exclusive developments they represent here in Tambor.

Wine and Dine in Costa Rica

LE MONASTERE
Top quality cuisine with a magnificent view overlooking the capital San José. In Le Monastère you can go to dinner two ways: chic in the restaurant or hip in the underground caves with live music.

JURGEN’S RESTAURANT
The “Le Garage” of San José with high quality cuisine is both elegant and trendy at the same time. A very popular spot among the upper class.

CHATEAU 1525 Very special for Dutch people because the restaurant is in an old castle which was the former Dutch Embassy in Costa Rica. The castle actually houses five different restaurants, each one with its own ambience and style. You can lounge in the wine cellar or have French cuisine on the terrace. Chateau 1525 is popular with well-to-do Costa Ricans and foreigners. The business is known for its excellent service and picture perfect dishes with surprising combinations.

Little Pearl in Costa Rica

Punta Islita is known as a little pearl on the Pacific coast.
It is not surprising that 95% of the guests arrive in private jets or airliners at the landing strip that is about 5 kilometers away. The setup of the hotel in Costa Rica is small with only 30 rooms, 10 suites and 7 villas built in the style of the old cattle ranches here in the Guanacaste region with roofs covered in palm leaves and the trunks of Madero and Sainillo trees being used for the construction. Every single room has a splendid view of the ocean and its own hammock. Most rooms also have a Jacuzzi in the garden or a private swimming pool. Punta Islita is built in such a way that although everybody has an unobstructed view, the setting is private and guaranteed. Also, the hotel also has an impressive spa-program including treatments with lava mud and vanilla massages with warm volcano stones and honey. The largest villa (220 square meters) has its own swimming pool, kitchen, dining room and butler service which will set you back between 500 and 700 dollars per night.

Resorts in Costa Rica

Although a couple of years ago Costa Rica was primarily a destination for thoroughbred eco-tourists, this image is changing very fast. The backpack is making place for Louis Vuitton, Levi’s is clearing the field for Dolce & Gabbana and in more and more places the bed-and breakfasts are making place for luxury resorts such as the Four Seasons and Marriott. Along the Pacific coast, resorts have been built over the last few years for the most discerning.
The exquisite Punta Islita Hotel (5 stars) on the Nicoya Peninsula for instance is a member of the famous Small Luxury Hotels group. The inhospitable trip to Punta Islita (because of the hotel’s remote location, the road to get there is not a fun ride) is “rewarded” immediately upon arrival, after the butler receives you at your car with cool, wet towelettes.

IMPRESSED BY THE VALUABLE GIFTS OFFERED TO HIM BY THE INDIANS, COLUMBUS CALLED THE COUNTRY COSTA RICA, WHICH IN SPANISH MEANS "RICH COAST".

Wake up to the screeching of howling monkeys, visit miles of untouched tropical coastline, or listen to a volcano’s primitive thunder while watching showers of ash, fire and smoke.
Costa Rica has endless jungles, pearly white sand beaches, and isolated bays along with rich flora and fauna that are unique in this world. Welcome to Costa Rica!
During his fourth trip to the New World, Columbus anchored in the Bay of Cariari in 1502. Deeply impressed by the valuable gifts offered to him by the Indians, he called the country Costa Rica, which in Spanish means "rich coast".
The name that Christopher Columbus gave this country was well chosen, and still holds true today in the 21st century. Costa Rica is situated between Nicaragua and Panama and is only one and a half times the size of Holland, but it is home to no less than seven per cent of all the different biodiversities in the world including more than 850 species of birds and 250 different kinds of mammals. Costa Rica has many natural reserves also! 25% of the country has been set aside and consists of national parks and nature reserves. One third of the 4 million “Ticos” or Costa Ricans live in the Central Valley, where the country’s capital San José is located. But Costa Rica is not only extremely rich flora and fauna. When compared with other Latin American countries, Costa Rica can also be called “rich” in peace and education. Don Pepe Figueres, the country’s godfather abolished the army in 1949 and decided to invest in a continuing education and health care system. A lot of money is also spent on conserving nature. The latter is not a coincidental choice because tourism is one of the main industries here together with the exportation of computer chips, coffee, bananas and pineapples.

The best places to go to in Costa Rica

If you come to Costa Rica, then you absolutely must visit:
TORTUGUERO, one of the few spots on earth where you can witness sea turtles lay their eggs;
ARENAL, the most active volcano in Costa Rica at 1630 meters altitude that belches lava, dust and smoke every single day and especially at night producing a spectacular show. Beautiful spa-resorts with natural healing thermal springs and lava-mud treatments are the mode at Arenal.
MONTEVERDE, a tropical rainforest at 1.500 meters altitude that is home to 2.500 kinds of plants, 400 different bird species, 100 kinds of mammals and 490 different kinds of butterflies. Given the very poor conditions of the roads Monteverde is difficult to reach, but it is well worth a visit. The hotel Belmar built in typical Austrian Chalet style is 1600 meters above sea level offering you a view that leaves even the most seasoned traveller speechless.
THE PENINSULA OF NICOYA (Playa Tambor/Mal País), offers picturesque rolling hills, large cattle farms, beautiful beaches with extraordinary mountain and ocean views. The “Jet Set” has recently discovered this coast and are now buying property in Costa Rica and building their getaway mansions and villas.
PUNTA ISLITA GUANACASTE AND THE FOUR SEASONS PAPAGAYO RESORT offering 5-star luxury that you probably would not expect to find in this part of the world.
